((Svenja: *eep!* *grins*
It is! XD
So, shall Sha-Ulud be a were-worm?))
After Svenja's decision to side-step, Sha-Ulud had, in fact, continued on his trajectory, crashing back-first into the side of the mountain. This sudden, and rather painful shock, caused the uncontrollable exit of the air from his lungs, accompanied by his jaws opening. Now free of the troll, the Argonian slid down the rocks, leaving a trail of blood in the snow.
As the troll began to flail more and more, Svenja was getting progressively more annoyed with the clearly mentally-deficient creature. Finally, out of nothing more than simple annoyance with the troll's refusal to just lay down and die, she attempted to pin it to the ground. If she managed, it would be easy for she and the Wyrm to end its miserable and annoying life with great simplicity.

((Hey Svenja...L wants to be more romantic, but he doesn't know how. You have to show him, if you know what I mean.
Sure!))
Something big and furry crashed on top of the troll. He let out a horrible scream and kicked, clawed, whatever he could do to try and get back up. Then, something moved around him and pinned down both his arms with long, terrible claws. The troll screamed again, knowing that his life was now over...

((Svenja: *blushes to a shade of red equal to that of Vash's coat*
Yaaaay!
Also, Morrowind kicks major ass!))
And, unsurprisingly, it was. Svenja wasted no time in eviscerating the troll once she had pinned it to the ground, her long claws drawing forth ribbons of blood to paint the snow with the colors of rubies. For all she knew, the Wyrm was tending to Sha-Ulud, who was lying semi-conscious in the snow, or possibly helping her kill the troll.
Honestly, though, Svenja didn't care. What she cared about was protecting the group, especially Lambda, from the threat the ex-troll had posed. Now that the particular threat of the troll had been dealt with, the were-bear turned away from its mutilated corpse, and back to Lambda. Finding where he had collapsed into the snow, she scooped him out as delicately as she could with her large front paws, being careful not to hurt him with her claws. Attempting to speak, she found the once-Vortigaunt's name to be easier to say than it had been in this form. "Lambda?"

((Happy 2014-glasses! *wearing 2014 glasses over my prescription glasses*
L: *equally red* Eheh...What? Lambda does not know what Worm speaks of...*lying*
Morrowind is AWESOME! Lovecraftian enemies and giant mushroom cities!))
With the troll dead, the protodragon set to work on a rather gruesome task. This creature was covered in thick fur, and could provide a very useful skin. Her sharp claws weren't the best tools for the task, but they worked swiftly, and she ate and straggling bits left on it. Then she chopped off the head-skin and tossed it Lambda's way. It couldn't fit Sha-Ulud's new cranium, but it would fit Lambda and keep his head warm.
Once the skin was off (with a convenient slit through the chest and tummy, so it could be worn like a pair of footie pajamas) the Wyrm scampered over to the semi-conscious Sha-Ulud. She carefully rubbed his blood off onto the fur of the skin, then tried to ease him into it. He didn't look good at all, but the Wyrm couldn't help him medically. She couldn't even lick his wounds, since her mouth contained enough bacteria to kill a komodo dragon.
Lambda had managed to stay awake and conscious by listening to the disturbing noises with his eyes shut tight and laying on his side in a ball. He almost attacked Svenja when she picked him up, but he opened his eyes and saw her big ursine head looming over him. The former Vort relaxed, "Hey."
He was cold, but also hot. Svenja's fur felt way too hot, but he ignored it and buried into her. Then something smacked him on the head, and he flailed in fear.

((Whoo! Did you actually go to a celebration? *missed the actual turning because she was playing Morrowind*
Svenja: What he said. *is a terrible liar*
It really is! *glomps* Thank you for introducing me to TES!))
For a moment, before Lambda responded, Svenja feared that she had somehow hurt him during the fight with the troll. However, when he opened his eyes, and responded to her harsh rendition of his name, a smile broke across her blocky face. Eyes carrying a warm light within their icy depths, she nuzzled him gently partially to check him for injury, but mostly for a sign of affection.
As Lambda decided to burrow into her thick fur, probably for the sheer quantity of warmth she was exuding, Svenja blushed beneath her fur. So, when he suddenly tensed as something white and vaguely bloody was thrown at him, she was quick to try and discover what it was. Realizing that it was meant for a hat, she awkwardly tried to hold the struggling Lambda with one arm, while trying to manipulate her remaining paw to fit the ex-troll's skin onto his head. After some trial-and-error, she gave up, heaving a sigh.
Unsurprisingly, Sha-Ulud hadn't moved from where he had slumped post-flinging. Surprisingly, though, the Argonian had maintained a semi-conscious state, an impressive feat for one who had just been flung back-first into a cliff. Still, despite his relatively-impressive level of consciousness, he still wasn't expecting anyone to come to his aid, and was rather surprised when the Wyrm did.
As the Wyrm attempted to clean the blood away from his injuries, a half-hearted whimper of pain dribbled out of Sha-Ulud's half-opened jaws. The flesh there was raw and exposed, from where the rocks had abraded away his scales. Still, he didn't have the wherewithal to resist being slid into the troll's skin; the Argonian couldn't find it within himself to move.

((Not really, just partied at home. Brandon bought the glasses. We were planning a party, but the other people didn't show up.
*hugs* Just doing my duty as a gamer!
L: *inching out of your room*))
Lambda clung tight to Svenja as she leaned down to pick up the thrown white thing. It turned out to be the troll's head-skin, when Svenja had a difficult time trying to fit onto his head. He chuckled at the awkwardness of having something shoved onto his head and gently put it on himself. It was quite large, and there was an extra hole for another eye on the center of his forehead. He felt a pang of sadness at that.
The Wyrm had managed to stuff Sha-Ulud into the troll's skin. His own skin was very cold, much too cold. She could handle the cold, as she was used to living in freezing tunnels far beneath the surface. But he was a desert creature, even in this new form. He needed warmth.

((Was it fun anyway?
Still, thank you! *grins*
Svenja: *follows Lambda*))
Loosening her grip on Lambda enough for him to move, and put on the hat-like skin, Svenja looked somewhat abashed as a result of her failure to put the hat on his head. Nuzzling Lambda gently, she wondered if she should transform so as to communicate, or remain in her were-bear form, and act as a system of transport. After a moment of thought, she decided that the decision would be better made by those without a fur coat, and set about trying to find a way to get her question across to Lambda, as Sha-Ulud wasn't in the position to make decisions.
Enveloped in the bloody skin of the troll, Sha-Ulud was dimly aware of the fact that the cold, white fluff was no longer touching him. In response to this change, one indigo eye opened, blearily searching the world for the source of this new comfort.

((Yeah it was!
L: *steals some pants and runs*))
Lambda sorta answered Svenja's question. Not that he knew what she wanted to ask. He was tired and shut his eyes again, wanting to sleep but worried that he might freeze if he did, "Will Svenja carry Lambda to the town?" He mumbled.
The Wyrm, very gently, eased Sha-Ulud into her arms. He was heavy, but she was strong, and she stood with him in her front paws. She planned to carry him to safety with the humans below. The humans wouldn't like her, and would probably try to kill her, but they might accept Sha-Ulud now that he was humanoid. If he was safe, she was happy.

((Awesome!
Svenja: *forgets about clothing* *just runs*))
It was lucky for Lambda that Svenja's ears were keenly attuned to sounds, for his voice was almost swept away by the ever-present wind. Nuzzling him gently, she chuffed her answer, before padding over to where the Wyrm stood, awkwardly carrying Sha-Ulud. Making eye contact with the dragonoid, she chuffed once, then started down the winding path to the town at the base of the mountains. She hoped it wasn't that far; the were-bear wasn't entirely convinced that Lambda could survive out in the cold for much longer, or that Sha-Ulud wouldn't die from injuries sustained in the fight against the troll.

((Have some candy! *throws Reeces Pieces at you* *is all hopped up on 5-hour energy and coffee*
Random Cop Walking By: HEY! Put some clothes on, ya furry lady! *chases Svenja* ))
((Time skipping! You decide what happened/happens to Svenja and Sha-Ulud!))
Lambda woke to the sounds of a string instrument and the scent of food and alcohol. Something itchy but warm covered his body. He slowly opened his eyes.
He was laying in a bed in a room. There was a desk, a chest, a wardrobe, and a small bookshelf. His bed had itchy green sheets made out of something unfamiliar, most likely some type of animal fur. The troll skin was laying on the desk, and he was glad someone took it off. It disturbed him.
But how did he get here? Last thing Lambda remembered was being in Svenja's arms. And where was she? There was a closed door with flickering light escaping it. Lambda sat up. His limbs felt like logs, but he wasn't cold anymore. Hungry and thirsty, however. He must've been asleep for a while.
His shifted so his legs were hanging off of the bed. He was still naked, but someone left folded clothes on the ground next to the bed. Lambda picked them up and studied them. Clothes were an alien concept to Vortigaunts. On the seasonless swamp-planet of Xen, clothes were unnecessary. Xen has the fortune of having a perfect axis, unlike every other planet with life, like Earth, and probably this place.
After ten minutes of struggling to put on the clothes, Lambda managed to put on some brown pants, a green shirt, and fraying black shoes. Then he stood and slowly walked to the door...
Well, the Wyrm was right. These humans did not like dragons. In fact, they seemed to have prior experience with her relatives. The ones with helmets and torches attacked, but the other ones ran screaming. She left Sha-Ulud on the steps to a large building with a sign, then ran. She somehow found her way into ruins. The humans didn't follow her there. The Wyrm delved into the ruin depths, where she could watch Sha-Ulud in safety.

((*is hit in the head with candy* *twitches* Herro!
Svenja: Never! *runs*))
((Okies! Thank you!))
Svenja, just before she had reached the town, had realized that the residents probably wouldn't take kindly to a gigantic ursoid creature banging on the door to whatever inn was present. So, she had hidden behind trees just across the bridge from the town, shifted into her human form, then staggered into town; Lambda was a lot heavier than he looked, especially as dead weight. Upon seeing both her and Lambda, some of the townsfolk had taken pity on them and assisted the pair to the inn, while others attacked the Wyrm and Sha-Ulud. The innkeeper had also proven kind, giving both Svenja and Lambda warm clothing, and rooms, free of charge.
Which brought the narrative to the present. Svenja had been given a blue and brown dress which, although rather crudely sewn together, was quite warm, along with a pair of boots. She had already awoken from her sleep, and was sitting by the fire, waiting for Lambda. Upon seeing Lambda emerge from his room, clothes somewhat askew, she smiled broadly, rising to greet him.
"Hello, Lambda!" she called over the dull-yet-pleasant noise of the inn, walking over to him. "Did you rest well? It's amazing how hospitable these people are!"
Surprisingly, Sha-Ulud had also received aid, even if it wasn't to the degree the human-appearing Lambda and Svenja had received. One of the guards, once he had come back from chasing the Wyrm, had taken pity on him. While the Argonian might not have gotten a warm bed, he had at least gotten a potion fed to him that healed his wounds, and a set of clothing once meant for a miner, before being tucked into a bedroll made out of the hide of a very warm ex-mammal.
After a rather restful sleep in the bedroll, Sha-Ulud awoke to the guard poking him with a very large and poke-y sword. The message was clear, and the Argonian wasted no time in complying; he had no desire to argue with an armored man with a sword. Thanking the guard profusely, he got his first good look around the town as he held onto a fish rack for balance, as he was still trying to get used to having only two legs to stand on.
((Going along with the whole 'Argonians not being welcome in cities/inns/stuff like that'.))

Hey, they're your characters. You do the doing!))
((Poor Argies...Racism sucks.))
Lambda stepped through the door at a slow, careful pace. He was quickly getting used to these one-joined legs. He had two before, but being born bipedal, he knew how to balance himself, where his center of gravity was, etc. He couldn't imagine what Sha-Ulud was going through.
When he stepped through the door, most of the humans looked over at him. He quickly spotted Svenja, but he almost didn't recognize her. She was wearing a dress! Dresses were common for female humans, but he never imagined Svenja in clothes, let alone female-only ones.
"Lambda thinks so...Is that food?" He asked, moving to sit next to her. She had a spot next to a large fire positioned in the floor. There was also a cooking apparatus dangling above it. It looked like meat stew of some kind. His stomach growled loudly.
"Where is the Sha-Ulud and the Wyrm? Are they...okay?" He asked in a hushed voice once he was sitting next to Svenja. The townsfolk might not have treated the unusual creatures so nicely.

((That it does. Always wondered why the Dragonborn didn't face more of it at the beginning (ie, before being recognized as Dragonborn), if s/he was one of the beast races...))
"As far as I'm aware of, it is. I think it's beef stew, with vegetables," Svenja replied, peering into the cooking pot. Whatever it was, it smelled wonderful, but she wasn't sure if she was allowed to have any, or whether that would be overstretching the boundaries of the hostility that was being shown to she and Lambda.
"Depends on your standards of okay," the were-bear answered in a similarly-hushed tone. "Sha-Ulud wasn't allowed in here, but I saw a guard taking care of him before we were taken in here. The Wyrm, well, it was driven into the ruins near here. I don't know if it was injured, or how it's doing now. I just woke up, and haven't gotten to go check on either of them."
Gradually, as he looked around, Sha-Ulud began to notice the odd looks he was getting from the humans that made this town their home. The stares ranged from veiled curiosity, to outright disdain and dislike, and everywhere in between. Lowering his eyes as yet another pale-skinned human glared at him, he sighed, and decided he might as well go explore, and maybe find out where Lambda, Svenja, and the Wyrm were. Carefully, the Argonian let go of the fish rack, and took his first tottering steps on his new feet, surprising himself when he didn't fall flat on his nose.

Cop: Oh man...I better adjust the Abilify dosage again. *thinks he's hallucinating*
Well I got some racist comments for being a Khajiit, but other than that, I was pretty unimpressed with the lack of racism. Like that scene when you first step into Windhelm doesn't change depending on your species. I think those guys should attack you if you're Dunmer or one of the beast races. At least start a fistfight or something.))
Lambda glanced over at the woman behind the counter. She was busy washing a cup, possibly listening in on her guests conversation. She didn't say anything about him asking for food. He didn't want to overstep the boundaries, but he had nothing to offer for food, except maybe his servitude. Oh well. He'd find food later.
"The Wyrm can survive anything." He whispered back. Lambda knew it wouldn't get hurt; hell, it lived for thousands of years in tunnels run by freaky worm cultists. It could survive some freezing ruins. But Sha-Ulud? If he doesn't learn how to walk soon, he could die.
"Should we leave to check on them?" Lambda asked. Would they be allowed back in after they left? He didn't want to lose a warm bed, especially if it was just a cold outside as on the mountain.

Svenja: *walks over* *pokes him* *grins*
Yeah, I get called a boot a lot (real smart, implying you're going to skin an Argonian spellsword who happens to be the Dragonborn), but nothing else. You can track down Rolff (or whatever his name), and start a brawl with him. It's fun to punch him!))
"True, very true," Svenja answered, her voice hushed in an attempt to render any eavesdropping ineffectual. She had no desire to have rumors spread about the group, especially in a place like this, where survival was currently dependent on the kindness of complete strangers.
"We probably should," she replied, getting to her feet, smoothing out the wrinkles in her dress with a hand. "If only to teach Sha-Ulud how to walk; it's got to be hard for the poor...guy." Heading for the door, she thanked the barman for letting them stay, before leaving.
Although the air still held a chill, the temperature in Ivarstead was considerably warmer than the temperature on the mountain. Especially with clothing, the temperature was actually bearable, and warm enough not to be completely covered in animal skins; the rough fabric Svenja and Lambda were wearing was enough to keep them warm for the time being.
Pleasantly surprised by this turn of events, Svenja slowly turned, looking for Sha-Ulud. She finally found him standing by the bank of the river, and tilted her head to the side; what was the former leupak doing so close to deadly water?
Sha-Ulud was wondering the same thing, himself. However, despite years of instincts telling him to flee from water, his new body was drawn to it, as if wanting to immerse himself in the deadly liquid like a sandworm immerses itself in the dunes. So, he had tottered over to the bank, and was staring into the current intensely, as if expecting the answer to his dilemma to appear there; do I swim, or do I flee? He had no idea that the other two humanoids in the group had found him.

((Cop: Hey. *pokes back*
L: Svenjaaa! What is Svenja doing? *runs up to her*
Lots of people think a Khajiiti rug would bring the room together, but that's usually bandits, and occasionally people you start fistfights with.))
Lambda nodded, carefully watching the humans in the room. He followed Svenja on her way out out of the inn, or bar, or whatever this building was. It actually was warm outside and he felt okay. They might need a coat later, but not in this town.
Sha-Ulud's appearance by the river sent a cold chill down Lambda's new spine. He wasn't...planning to kill himself, was he? No, Sha-Ulud was tougher than that. One bad transformation into a lizard-man wouldn't send him over the edge...Would it?
Lambda approached him first. He sat next to the lizard-man with his legs dangling over the bank, "Hello Sha-Ulud." He said and studied the other's face. He seemed to be contemplating something while starting into the current.

((Svenja: *turns and smiles at Lambda*
Yeah... The assumptions that you're always going to get into trouble are a bit annoying, honestly.))
Brow furrowed as Sha-Ulud made no move to avoid the water, Svenja wondered if he had suffered brain damage as a result of hitting the mountainside. That, or... But Sha-Ulud wouldn't be suicidal! He was far too level-headed for that, right?
Following quickly after Lambda, Svenja sat next to the transformed leupak, flanking him with Lambda's help. For the moment, she would allow Lambda to lead the conversation, and help if she was needed.
Looking up as he heard footsteps, then Lambda's voice, a vague smile passed over Sha-Ulud's face as he recognized two of his companions. "Hello, Lambda," he responded, distracted by the shining of the water in the light. Returning his gaze to the fast-flowing river, he was almost overcome with the desire to submerge within its cool depths; only decades worth of self-control stopped the Argonian from plunging into the water. "Doesn't the water look nice today?"

Cop: Hey, I'm hallucinating, right? That isn't a bear?
L: No. It is Lambda's heart-friend, Svenja.
Cop: Oh. Good. I need a beer.
L: What is beer?))
Sha-Ulud's tone was disturbingly trance-like, and he only looked up for a moment to acknowledge Lambda and Svenja's presence. He seemed enchanted by the water, not depressed and ready to die. That was a good sign. Still, why was he suddenly in love with water?
"Lambda supposes so." Lambda answered, "But why does Sha-Ulud care? Sha-Ulud is hurt by water, yes?"

((Svenja: *rolls her eyes at both the cop and Lambda*
Having Sha-Ulud be a somewhat-normal Argie, and not die in the presence of water.))
"Why should I care? Well... I don't actually know," Sha-Ulud admitted, tearing his eyes away from the river that flowed so freely by. "I'm not sure anymore... A significant portion of myself seems convinced that water won't hurt me, but I'm not sure what to think about that..."
During their conversation, one of the Ivarstead guards had walked up behind the trio, and suddenly announced how upset he was that he had guard duty while his cousin was out fighting dragons. Understandably surprised by this sudden outburst, Sha-Ulud jumped a little, slipped on a wet rock, then fell into the river.

((Went to a second christmas with the inlaws. Got some cool shit!
Lol, the proximity-talking annoys me sometimes.))
Lambda understood some of Sha-Ulud's pain. He hadn't felt any human instincts unusual for Vortigaunts, but Sha-Ulud went through such a significant change that he must feel like a completely different person. And apparently, this new body enjoyed water.
The guard scared Lambda too, but Sha-Ulud slipping into the water made the Vort-human scream. Without even thinking, he pushed himself in too and dove right into the current after his friend. The water rushed into his eyes, nose, and mouth, choking and half-blinding him, but on instinct he shut his mouth and breathed out of his nose. The current pushed him and Sha-Ulud along, and with no idea how to swim, Lambda was aimlessly flailing, trying to move faster so he could reach him and pull him out. Who knows how much damage this could do! He might die!

Re: WormXWere Part 2 | Rated M
((Oh?
Doesn't it, though? Oh, and do you have any idea as to why my legendary edition of Skyrim is failing to update to Hearthfire and Dragonborn?))
Lambda's thoughts about Sha-Ulud on the subject of being a completely new person were entirely correct. The former leupak was struggling with so many completely new stimuli, from the sensation of the wind against hard, non-segmented skin, to the simple confusion of walking on only two legs, to having these odd, flexible digits on his forepaws. It was a credit to his well-developed self-control that the poor creature hadn't had either a sensory overload, or a mental breakdown, or both.
When the Argonian hit the water, however, the confusion plaguing his brain seemed to vanish. To Sha-Ulud, swimming now seemed completely natural, like he should have been doing this for his entire life. Gill-coverings behind his 'ears' opened, and he found himself breathing under the surface of the water, his eyes seeing clearly in the murky gloom. Like Lambda, he had no idea of how to swim, but it seemed natural that his tail was involved. Soon, he found himself propelling himself much faster than even the water could move him. Sha-Ulud was having the time of his life! To him, water was life!
However, the fun couldn't last. In Lambda's flailing, the former Vortigaunt's hand latched onto Sha-Ulud's tail, shocking the Argonian out of his water-induced reverie. Turning in the current to see Lambda flailing and struggling in the water, the Argonian began to tow his friend back to shore. Sha-Ulud had known humans in his time, and had learned from them how fragile their species was. Humans couldn't swim in the sand like he did, and he had assumed then that they probably couldn't do the same in water; Lambda's display had convinced him of this.
Hauling himself out onto the river bank, with Svenja assisting him, Sha-Ulud helped Lambda out of the river. The Argonian was panting, unused to the exertion of swimming, and also trying to expel the last bits of water from his gills. "Lambda? Are you alright?" he asked, rather nervous; he didn't want his friend to be hurt because of him.
((I wish Argies swam in Skyrim like they did in Morrowind...
Also, I think I understand why they gasp when surfacing in Skyrim. It's not a glitch; they're switching back to using lungs!))

((Yep! That's why I was gone.
Uh, no...Maybe it thinks it is? Try reinstalling it. It shouldn't lose your save games, but if it's like Oblivion, you might not be able to use some of them if you got to far. After installing Knight of the Nines, some of the older saves when I reached Anvil didn't work, because the Prophet was there.
Yeah, they swim like tadpoles, fish, and crocodiles do! It's awesome!
For a while I thought it was a glitch to, but they gotta get the water out of their gills and the lungs working again!))
Lambda managed to grasp something scaly and hard in the water. Whatever it was, it thrashed around as he grabbed it, and he almost let go. He almost gasped as well, and suddenly he was coughing out water and air and trying desperately to breathe and to get to air without letting go of the scaly part that was part of Sha-Ulud.
Arms wrapped around him and he stopped flailing, but it felt like his lungs were flailing inside his chest. Lambda forced himself to keep his mouth and nose shut with as much self-control as he had. This nose seemed useless; while smelling was nice, it ruined what little he used to enjoy about water. Vortigaunts were a swamp species; they weren't great in the water, thanks to their legs, but their wide feet allowed them to walk on mud pools without sinking too far. Walking in water was no problem but swimming was a bit troublesome.
Reaching the shore was a magical moment for Lambda. He gasped in as much air as possible and almost immediately coughed it back out. After a few rounds of sucking down air and coughing, he fell back to a normal pace. Lambda sat right where Sha-Ulud placed him. He didn't feel like moving again.
"Lambda is okay." He said, "But is Sha-Ulud okay? Did the water hurt him?"

((Makes sense!
Alright! Can do! Thank you!
Yeah! I miss that in Oblivion and Skyrim... It made Argonians so much more unique.
Exactly!))
Sitting awkwardly beside Lambda as he coughed up a small lake of water, Sha-Ulud felt bad for his recently-human friend; even though his swim had been surprising, and terrifying in the early moments, the Argonian didn't feel like he had been close to drowning. He hadn't expected Lambda to care enough to go in after him, and felt terrible that his friend might have died in the river.
Feeling somewhat relieved as Lambda said he was alright, Sha-Ulud briefly patted himself down, looking for any of his blue blood. "It looks like I'm fine! I... I guess this body's better adapted to water than my other one was," he replied, more than somewhat amazed.

((And how they can't wear footwear or full helmets, because their faces and feet are different. Oblivion and Skyrim turned them into people with cat or lizard heads.))
Lambda studied Sha-Ulud's face while squeezing his clothes to get the water out. He looked fine, no sign of harm to his scales. He also noticed an odd slit behind the ear-holes. It was on smoother scales, like a snake's instead of a crocodile's, and was barely noticeable if one wasn't looking right at it. Almost like fish gills...Oh, that explains why Sha-Ulud recovered much quicker from the water.
"Sha-Ulud has gills now. Lucky him." Lambda said, smiling. Then he shook himself roughly like Svenja does in her bear form to get all the water out of his hair. He chuckled when he was finished; he was dizzy, and he liked feeling dizzy. It was fun.
