((I've seen pidgeons wait for the humans to cross, then cross with them. It was cute.
And parrots, too! "His name will be....BRAWAWK!))
((Cause he's a sandworm, and these are...well...I dunno. Not normal earthworms, and not sandworms, but...forestworms?))
The creatures were just a few feet away. Their presence was so close it screamed what they were, and what they were doing. Lambda wouldn't be surprised if non-psychics could feel it. If not, they would certainly know from the sounds and the vibrations. He fully charged his attack and held it in the space between his hands, waiting for them to appear.
They burst through all at once. Five...eight...no, twenty round, large, invertebrates. Pink, brown, red, and purple colors. All had mouths that puckered outward, lined with teeth that stuck out like thorns, to grab prey and latch on. They seemed to have no other organs; no eyes, no ears, no noses...Perfect burrowers, nothing to get hurt from constantly headbutting the earth itself.
Their sizes varied from five feet in width to just an inch. The biggest one was rosy pink and situated in the middle. It seemed to 'look' over the group, its mouth opening and closing at the air in front of them. It leaned closer to Lambda, then Sha-Ulud. It hovered in front of him, mouth opening and closing as if to smell him. Finally it opened its mouth again and took in a deep breath. With a voice that is not supposed to be heard, it rasped out a sentence.
"Brother...Why are you here? These are...holy lands......They should not...be this land......They are intruders......They are unholy. Why did you bring...the unholy?" It spoke, rasping in breath at seemingly random intervals.

((Pidgeons are odd animals.
Yep! Dolphins are also self-aware, and they can sleep with only half of their brain. I like cetaceans.))
((Oh, this is going to be awesome... I wonder what Lambda can do against a seriously annoyed sandworm...?))
Now, as the creatures drew closer to their position, Sha-Ulud began to feel what they were, picking up signals of their nature in the deep places of his mind. The tenseness had returned to his entire body, pure blue eyes staring at the piece of ground he knew that the multitude would emerge from.
He was not disappointed. The worms burst through precisely where the tensed leupak was staring, eliciting a baring of Sha-Ulud's crystalline teeth. The feeling in the back of his mind was so strong now, so overpowering, almost as overpowering as the scent of cinnamon he was breathing out in his near-hyperventilations. The sense of ancient wildness was surrounding the leupak once again, stronger this time, as if Sha-Ulud had a hidden connection to the beating heart of the wild places.
Freezing in place as the lead worm-creature examined him in its own way, Sha-Ulud's claws unconsciously twitched, flexing with terrible power. The Sha-Ulud Lambda had been talking to seemed to have vanished, replaced with a wild creature about a step removed from a primal force of nature. Ears flicking forward as the leader began to speak in a rasping, impossible, voice, the leupak waited a moment before replying.
"From unknown lands, I have come... From sietch-less lands, from the desert's embrace... My passing was the existence of terror..in the holy lands... I was thrown..." Sha-Ulud spoke, his voice still possessed of that dry quality of one who had lived in the desert for a great many years. "I... I do not know..." he whispered, continuing. Turning his head to look over his shoulder at Lambda, there was a sickening lack of Sha-Ulud's usual humanoid mind in those pure blue eyes. "I do not know..."

((They're ugly, but cute. I kinda want to eat them, but they might be diseased...Or taste bad. How come I always wanna eat the cute things?
Be a Cetacean, then! Wiggle with me! *is a worm* *wiggles and giggles*))
((Um...Not much...He's kinda screwed. XD Zap 'im and run, basically.))
The group of worms nodded, or, rather, moved their entire body up and down as Sha-Ulud talked. It seemed they knew some of what he was feeling. They understood the sadness.
"Come with us...Meet the queen. Bring the...intruders too..." The lead worm spoke, and at once they all twisted around and burrowed back through their tunnels, exposing their sheer length. Lambda's eyes widened. These creatures had to be thirty, maybe forty feet long. They were huge.
And they liked Sha-Ulud...Lambda knew he would be trouble! His eyes met with the leupaks, daring him to follow the creatures through their large tunnel. They seemed to have made the tunnel this large on purpose, just so Sha-Ulud could lead "the intruders" to their inevitable doom.
"Well? Go down, 'brother'. Meet the queen." He taunted. He would follow, of course. Lambda didn't want to piss these creatures off.

((Dunno, but pidgeons are actually really good food. That's what they were bred for, the kind that most people are familiar with.
Okay! *turns into an orca* *chirp-clicks*))
((Heehee... Very screwed. Very, very screwed.))
Nodding as the lead worm-creature spoke again, Sha-Ulud stepped back a pace to allow the massive creatures to turn again under the earth. He did not seem as surprised as Lambda by the length of the creatures, as if he was used to worms of immense size.
Waiting until the last of the worms had fully disappeared beneath the near-sand soil, Sha-Ulud waited at the mouth of the massive tunnel they had left, probably just to accommodate his bulk into the ground. He could hear Lambda's taunts behind him, ringing in his ears, but the words were no longer registering in the leupak's brain.
Turning fully to face the Vortigaunt, Sha-Ulud fixed Lambda with such a stare that a lesser creature might have died on the spot. Whirling in those bottomless eyes was a sense of immense power, and terrible purpose; in those depths was the power of a force of nature. Whatever lurked beneath Sha-Ulud's ringed skin was perilously close to the surface, and approaching the breaking point quite swiftly.
Soundlessly, the leupak turned away from Lambda and Svenja, and entered the confines of the tunnel. He could feel the moisture against his skin, and hissed softly, the water-pain a dull pounding all over his body. Down, down into the darkness he went, shying away, somehow, from puddles of water that had accumulated in the bottom of the tunnel.

((*spasms around to dubstep music* ))
((*insert sex joke here* XD))
Sha-Ulud's stare had erased the anger that welled in Lambda. Now it turned to fear, an intense fear like a rabbit being chased by a fox. His eyes widened, and he took yet another step back as the leupak entered the tunnel.
Lambda debated running away right now. Despite his species muscular build--that is, none--Vorts were pretty good runners. Their legs allowed for great strides with little exertion. He could get a mile away in twenty minutes, even when carrying Svenja. But how would she feel, knowing the second he had the chance, he ditched the leupak? He didn't want to hurt her feelings...
No. He had to go down there. The Vortigaunt took his last breath of fresh air, then descended into the darkness.
It was...damp. Very damp. The father down they went, the less puddles existed...but it seemed like the water simply took to sticking inside the dirt instead of puddling on it. Every surface was wet, just enough to frustrate. This entire place was made of mud and peat.
It was less dark than Lambda expected. There was always enough light for him to see the ground directly in front of him. Lambda suspected magic at play, or possible bioluminescent elements in the dirt itself. The light didn't seem to come from somewhere, and it never shifted. Very odd.
The farther down they went, the more noisy it grew. Not a physical noise, no...but mental. The aura in the Vortessence pulsated in his ears. It was a definite hive-mind, run by one central being--the "queen" the leader worm mentioned. That worm was leading Sha-Ulud and Lambda to the "queen". It was just like on Xen; the Antlion drones would lead prey directly to the Antlion Queen, and she and the Guardians would feast on them, then share the scraps with the rest of the hive. Lambda is going to die...
"No you won't."
The tunnel suddenly dropped off into a huge central room, much brighter than the tunnels. Thousands of the worm-creatures surrounded one...thing at the far end of the room. The thing was a huge coil, a being similar to the other creatures. But, unlike them, this one had an exoskeleton, and many, many legs. Slowly it unraveled itself to reveal another creature; this one bright purple, and only four feet long. And, unlike all the other creatures, this one had the face of a humanoid. This was the Queen.
At the sight of the Queen, all worms suddenly flopped to the ground, as if dead. The Queen seemed unfazed.
"I won't kill you. I like you. All of you." She said. Lambda relaxed. But why are we here?

((Sha-Ulud: *sticks his head in and starts growling*))
((...You went there. XD))
The deeper into the tunnel that he went, the more Sha-Ulud seemed to attempt to compress his massive body, tossing his head as the moisture seemed to build in the darkness. Ears flattened against his head to keep water from dripping into his ears, he walked on, hissing at a low volume at the growing pain the water was causing him.
However, even though he was in growing pain, Sha-Ulud could not run. The sensation of the hive-mind beneath the earth was strong, too strong, for him to resist. The back of his mind, and the core of his being, found disobedience to the mysterious mind an anathema. He had not felt something like this in all of his life, except a touch in the presence of the progenitor of all leupaks; it was not something that could be broken away from at a whim.
Stepping down into the strange chamber with ease, the glowing light revealed that Sha-Ulud's mouth was agape, and practically dripping with his cinnamon-scented--and colored--venom, his segmented tongue lolling from between crystal teeth. Combined with the primal light in his eyes, Sha-Ulud no longer looked like an approachable, sentient creature.
However, as the massive coil of armored segments uncoiled, Sha-Ulud looked up, indigo eyes focused upon the purple worm that was revealed. Fixing the true worm-leader, the leupak seemed torn in his loyalties, torn between subservience, and his fierce independence. The odd control of the hive mind won, and he bowed his head out of respect, some of his venom beginning to drip to the floor.

((I am like, the most perverted girl in the entire world. XD I cannot help it. Not that I try to stop it, cause it's funny...XD))
The Queen Worm raised a brow at the sight of this new creature--one of worm origin--bow down...kinda. It seemed to be fighting it. Not good. It would hurt him to fight...She focused on his mind, sending him a message, Don't fight it, Sha-Ulud. It isn't bad...But fighting will hurt you. Relax. She opened her mind to him, letting him know that she wasn't going to hurt him in any way. Honestly, all she wanted to do is know why they were here. This was holy land, and only those who were holy, or wanted to make a pilgrimage could come in. All others were...well, fed to the bloodworms. Usually. These ones wouldn't, though, because they were...special.
((Bah. Short post is short.))

((Me: He doesn't like the intense rhythms. It's a sandworm thing.))
((You know, it's totally okay. It really is amusing! XD))
The Queen of the Worms might have thought that she was doing Sha-Ulud a favor by contacting him with telepathy, but, unfortunately, the half-mad leupak failed to grasp the intent of the sudden intrusion. Without warning, his head snapped up, and there was real anger in those indigo eyes, anger that burned with primal force. It was immediately obvious that he had completely missed the calming influence, and the meaning of the Queen to be peaceful.
Teeth bared in a feral snarl, venom was dripping from Sha-Ulud's gaping mouth, even as his tongue was writhing like a snake. Suddenly, the tip of the leupak's tongue split into three separate flaps, revealing tiny, but potentially painful, crystalline teeth within the miniature sandworm that formed Sha-Ulud's tongue. The pain of the water all around him, combined with the warring dichotomy in his head, was driving the poor leupak to the brink of what he could control in himself...

((Oh yeah, vibrations and bass...*turns it on to disco* "There was something in the aaaaiiirr that night...The staaars were bright....Fernaaaandoooo!" *really bad singing*))
((Ain't it? XD It's so inappropriate! ))
The Queen instantly realized her mistake as the sheer force of his fury forced her out of his mind. It was at that moment her steed sprang to action, curling back around her with such speed that he was almost a blur. He hissed like a rattlesnake and snapped his mandibles together to create a subtle, yet disturbing clicking. It was hard to tell with his blank, pupiless eyes, but he seemed to be staring Sha-Ulud down.
"Peter! Down!" The Queen shouted. 'Peter' was apparently the name of this segmented insect. It paused, seeming to decide how to respond, and chose the peaceful path. It quieted and uncoiled around the queen.
Likewise, Lambda was trying to calm Sha-Ulud down. He lightly held onto the shoulder of the leupak, ready to pull him away if needed. (Not that he could, the leupak was way too big.) He also called out the leupak's voice, shouting, "Sha-Ulud! Think about this. Violence interrupts the Universe's flow. Only certain moments allow for violence, and this is not one of them."

((Yeah, he's a bit touchy about that... Walk without rhythm, and all.))
((Yup. XD Highly!))
As soon as the segmented arthropod sprang into action to protect his queen, Sha-Ulud's growls grew louder, turning into strangled half-roars. Venom continued to drip from his jaws, the viscous substance coating also the tongue-that-was-sandworm. Massive claws clenched and relaxed, tearing at the damp soil beneath the leupak's feet, the moisture only serving to drive him to greater frenzy. In this state, where he was certainly no longer in his right mind, Sha-Ulud would have taken on anyone who came for him, be it the arthropod Peter, Lambda, or even the Worm Queen herself.
The sensation of touch on his shoulder, along with the shouting of his name, caused the angered leupak to whirl around in the cavern, now facing Lambda entirely. Teeth bared, and tongue thrashing, his hackles raised, Sha-Ulud had gone far past what words could tame with perfect ease. Now, facing the Vortigaunt, the leupak seemed once again torn between gutting that which would interrupt his anger, and ignoring the distraction; he could no longer identify Lambda as a friend, such was his rage.
Once again, as Sha-Ulud stood, his body bristling and his jaws filled with his unique venom, the design that seemed painted on his forehead seemed to be twitching, as if it was intending to come alive...
((Leupaks that turn into beasts lose their human intelligence when they change from their usual form to their animal one.))

((Aww...C'mere, Sha-Ulud! I'll give you a hug! *grows bigger so I can hug him*))
Sha-Ulud whipped around with such a ferocity, Lambda froze. His mouth was open, dripping with some sort of venom from an orifice at the tip of his tongue. And worse, the strange symbol on his forehead was moving. Something horrible was going to happen...Lambda took large steps back, but kept eye contact with Sha-Ulud. On his planet, eye contact was calming, but would it work with this beast? Just in case, he started 'singing' as well.
Out of his left and right eyes, Lambda saw the worms start to rise up. They had stayed on the ground for now, but some unspoken signal had caused them to gather behind Sha-Ulud, as slowly and calmly as possible, so not to rile him. They would probably attack, or maybe restrain him, if he tried anything.
The Worm Queen watched with a worried eye as this scene unfolded. She slowly started to grow larger until she was the same length as the segmented creature; ten feet long and just under a foot thick. She would restrain Sha-Ulud herself if the need came. Nothing was to be harmed on this holy land; it was blasphemous to her reign, and to the Earth-God Itself. She had to protect it.
((Like Bruce Banner?))

((Sha-Ulud: *is confused by the purpose of a hug*))
((Kinda!))
Still meeting Lambda's intense gaze with his own ferocious glare, Sha-Ulud's growls seemed to be quieting in his throat. It appeared that, miraculously, the forces that had gathered in this subterranean throne room had managed to contain the leupak's barely-restrained fury.
Slowly, his hackles began to drop, the massive talons ceasing in their mauling of the earthen floor beneath Sha-Ulud's feet. Calmed by the toneless 'song' of the Vortigaunt, Sha-Ulud's tongueclaw quieted, like a cobra once the snake charmer has worked his magic. Even the bizarre symbol on his forehead had ceased its frantic twitching, settling back into its spiral form.
All in all, it appeared that, despite the immense odds, Sha-Ulud was calming down from his senseless rage. It was then, just then, as the humanoid light was beginning to enter the leupak's eyes, that a single drop of water dripped from the ceiling. Under normal circumstances, a single drop of water does not change the outcome of a tense situations, but this drop was a special one. This drop, the most unlucky of droplets, fell to land precisely upon Sha-Ulud's calming facet.
As the water touched his leathery skin, flowing over his facet, Sha-Ulud screamed, a sound of fury, and of agony. Jaws opened wide, his teeth and tongue dripping with venom, the leupak fell to the ground, his bulk convulsing. One drop of water had changed the outcome of this situation, sending the calming Sha-Ulud into new spasms of agony, the screams sending the potentially-deadly venom flying through the chamber.
This was not the end, however. With one last shudder of his pained, rage-bound body, Sha-Ulud's eyes snapped open to reveal indigo eyes consumed by the terrifying light of something between a wild animal, and an unstoppable force of nature. With that last glimpse, the body of the leupak seemed to stretch and grow, taking on dimensions that the room could barely hold.
Where Sha-Ulud had been, now a sandworm resided, its massive three-fold maw opening and closing to exhale the powerful cinnamon smell of melange. The pain, and the confusion, had proven too much for the displaced leupak, and now, a maddened sandworm writhed in the confines of the chamber, unable to burrow, lest it be poisoned by the water in the soil around it.

((*hugs* Hugs are for expressing friendship and happiness! They're good things!))
((My surgery was a lot better than I expected. They first hooked me up to a blood-pressure cuff, one of those finger-clamps for the oxygen levels, and a group of stick heart-beat monitors on my chest. Then they suddenly gave me all the drugs at once; a nose-cover with nitrous(which, by the way, smells sickeningly of cotton candy.), an IV with some sort of sleep medicine, and shots in my gums for local anesthesia. All of that at one scared me, and I clamped up my legs for a while. I could hear my heart beeping like mad on the machine. The doctor (a nice Indian dude named Doctor Thole. I think.)) told me I needed to relax, so I started taking big breaths of the nitrous. Next think I know, I'm listening to them talk about some other lady and if she had gotten her certificate done. He and the nurse were fiddling around with my molars and finally my wisdom tooth in the back right. Then, suddenly, I was watching some arms rip the first layer off of a sheet of cardboard. Then I was falling, and also making big ripping motions, starting from the upper left corner to the bottom right, using my left hand. Then somebody pulled the skin off of my chest. All of this was really blurry (unusual for my dreams) and no audio whatsoever. Then I was awake, with a mouth full of gauss, my head lolling around constantly, my glasses on (which had been replaced with safety goggles before) and a really nice Indian lady-nurse. She helped me into a wheelchair waiting there, and then into my car. I waved to everyone, cause I was REAL loopy.
All in all, I take three lessons from this experience:
Surgery is not as scary as you think, as long as it is painless, and preferably you are asleep. However, the pre and post-op is about as bad as I thought it would be. Not too bad, but still pretty annoying. I couldn't eat or drink for eight hours before, and I'm on a liquid diet for a while. I think I can start semi-solids tomorrow, or the next day. And I'll need some Sensodyne toothpaste, cause these holes are pretty close to some roots, and really cold/hot/spicy stuff hurts.
Nitrous oxide is NOT a good hallucinogen. No sound, and all of them were about peeling stuff off. Why the hell would anyone willingly ingest that stuff?? Plus, I hear it's insanely addictive. I hope this is my only use.
I can stay remarkably sane while under the influence of narcotics. Seriously. I joined like two roleplays today, and posted some good quality ones. I think I spelled everything right, as I have a spell-check in my browser, and I correct myself a lot.))
The sandworm filled the room, knocking the hiding groups of worms back. They hissed in pain and checked themselves for damage. Sure enough, some of their organs was damaged. An unfortunate side-effect of having no bones. But, they still lunged for him, draping his back and upper body, trying to calm him down by keeping him dry, or at least restrain him.
Lambda, for the time being, held himself against the damp wall. He was sure Sha-Ulud would try to stay away from the more watery part of the room--like the puddle and wall he was standing on. It provided some protection.
Worm, however, had different plans. She let out an odd-sounding whistle, summing a creature that rivaled Sha-Uluds size and power. It could, hopefully, keep him from causing too much damage.

((Sha-Ulud: *takes your word for it* *hugs*))
((...Goddamn. You are braver than I, to be very sure (I would have pulled a Sha-Ulud even with the first prep for that)! I'm glad that you're doing relatively okay, Worm! Is there anything I can do for you?))
Writhing and flailing as he felt the water in the soil working their way beneath the vast rings of skin, down to where his flesh turned soft and pink, Sha-Ulud gave as close as a worm could come to a scream. The strange, blue, ichor was coating the floor near the leupak-turned-sandworm, and the smell of spice was only growing stronger. Whatever ingested that blood, or the venom in the room, for whatever reason, would probably be subjected to a series of intense, and fairly disturbing, visions.
Even though water could still find its way under his protective armor, Sha-Ulud could not tell that the massive worms from before were now on his back. For all he knew, he was dying relatively alone in the chamber, with a few onlookers, those being the Queen Worm, her steed, and Lambda-Svenja. And... Now there was something else, something the size of the maddened sandworm.
Suddenly, Sha-Ulud reared back, questing for the creature that the Queen of the Worms had summoned, his mouth slightly agape as he prepared to meet whatever-it-was, most likely on the field of combat. Crystal teeth glinted slightly in the wavering light from the glowing walls, the dental weapons used originally for boring through solid rock, and for combat with other members of the species. The sandworm's massive form, though, was trembling in what would be defined as agony, as a sandworm's equivalent of hypothermia was beginning to set in. A fight now would not have Sha-Ulud as the victor.
((Sandworms of Dune (pre-Leto II, when they changed drastically) are quite territorial.))

((See? Doesn't this feel nice?))
((I think the only reason I felt so good after is just cause it was over. I've been dreading that for years. Ever since I was 14, the dentists have told me I'd need them removed, because my bottom two wisdom teeth were coming in sideways, and the top two were too close to my other molars. I'm just relieved it's over.
Do you think salty things would be okay? I wanna try some Ramen noodles tomorrow, but they're notoriously salty, and I don't know if it'll hurt...))
The creature lived right behind the throne room. It was a being nearly as old as the Worm Queen herself, and nearly as powerful. It lived in these tunnels before anything else did, surviving off of the fungi that thrived here. All this time had slowly destroyed its mind; driving it mad and hopelessly confused. For reasons unknown to anyone, it always obeyed the Worm Queen.
A long, sleek beast slithered out of the tunnel. Standing only two feet tall and easily seventy feet long, it leisurely surveyed the area. It was burgundy, with sickly amber eyes, and ear-like appendages on top of its draconic head. Its four legs stuck out of its body just like a modern lizard's. Situated right behind the first pair were two worthless wings. A short row of spines ran down its back and all the way to its arrow-tipped tail. Long, chipped claws sank into the moist floor, showing signs of many other battles. This was the Wyrm, the first true dragon, albeit flightless, and it did not take kindly to intruders in its tunnels.
"Wyrm, restrain the sandworm! He is a danger to us all!" The Queen shouted. Instantly the beast sprang into action with speed surprising from such an old being. It let out one warning roar to signal all the worms off of Sha-Ulud, then lunged for his side. It was looking for some weakness, some part of he that could be exploited. Something to put him to sleep so it can sleep as well.
Here's a link to the pic.

((There's a lot to be said for relief, to be sure...
From what I've seen, so long as the noodles are well-cooked, and you don't eat it when it's super hot, ramen should be alright. Have you tried rinsing your mouth with salt water? That might be a good gauge of whether or not to do ramen.))
((Oh! I loved those books as a child!))
'Hearing' the roar of the new presence in the throne room, Sha-Ulud turned to meet it, but, chilled as he was, moved far too slow to meet the Wyrm with his formidable maw. Feeling clearly the dragon hit his first few segments, the sandworm reeled under the impact of a creature pretty much as large as it was, before attempting to bring its crystalline teeth to bear on the creature.
Twisting and writhing as much as was possible in the water-poisoned chamber, Sha-Ulud was unable to get a grip on the lithe dragon that clung to his segments. The combat was only serving to further expose the poor creature to more of the deadly liquid that collected in the soil, further weakening the sandworm, and driving it closer to eventual water-death. Maw wide, with friction-induced flames brewing deep in his gullet, the trapped dragon of the desert was forced to submit, the massive vermiform body stilling.
Lying limp on the floor, the only motions being spasmodic twitches as droplets of water worked their way under tan segments, the once-terrifying sandworm seemed a shell of its former self. With one final shudder, the body shrank back down, down, and down back into the body of the unlucky leupak. No longer a sandworm, Sha-Ulud lay face-down on the floor of the chamber, half-conscious, and experiencing new dimensions of agony.

((*wiggles around* Eh? What you say? *pokes with my head*
Eh, I'm getting a lot better. The day after that post, I was eating lots of macaroni and cheese. Now I'm nearly back to normal; eating off-brand Cinnamon Toast Crunch, muffins, and even a sub last night. (Though the mustardy sauce made my wounds tingle uncomfortably. I think they're nearly sealed, but I haven't felt the sutures come out. I think they're still there, since if I open my jaw all the way, I feel tugging, and I saw a black-ish thingy amongst the white scab tissue. They're dissolvable, so they will go away, but I hope they don't get stuck in my skin, like the blue jeans lint on my finger. (Yeah, I got a cut right at level where the tattoo ink stays, and instead of ink, pocket lint got in it. So I have blue lint in my finger. It's an ice-breaker! XD)) ))
((Yeah, I was into them too. XD Cheesy books, but I really like their wyrm. It's cuuuuuuuuuute! Is it weird to find worms and stuff cute?))
The wyrm held tight, occasionally twisting its huge body around so not to be squished under Sha-Ulud's massive weight. Even for it, a primitive, powerful dragon, something that huge would certainly crush it to death. Soon, thought, the writhing beast stopped, and it climbed to a better spot on him--right on his back. Suddenly, he shrank smaller and smaller, until it was falling off of him and spilling onto the floor. The wyrm climbed off and hesitantly batted at its prey like a cat with a half-dead mouse, then let out a whine. It was powerful, but not very smart; maybe as smart as a dog. It was having fun with the makeshift bull-ride, and didn't want it's "toy" to stop.
"Uh...Minions!" The Queen called, looking startled. She expected the worm to fight harder...But the water was too much for him. But now that he was calm, they could drag him out to the edge of the territory.
"Take him out of the tunnels. He's wounded, but still dangerous. Be careful." She ordered. The larger worms--forestworms--and the Wyrm gathered around Sha-Ulud. Slowly, they squished under his hide and hefted him up, like a living palanquin. They were surprisingly strong and supportive. Not one part of the beast touched the floor or ceiling.
A deep magenta worm slithered up to Lambda. It seemed to be 'looking' at Svenja with two odd pockets of blackness on its face. It then poked her with its head to see if she would move, or maybe to see if she was alive.

((Sha-Ulud: Yes?
Yay! I'm glad you're feeling better, and that they actually use dissolvable sutures for that. It's awesome that you're healing this quickly!
(Awesome... XD))
((Oh, incredibly cheesy, but the art in it was fabulous! Nah, dude, it's not weird! Personally, I think little sandworms are adorable, and flatworms to be cute, so it's all good.))
Semi-conscious, and feeling rather crushed by the now-relieved weight of the wyrm, Sha-Ulud let out a muffled groan as the wyrm batted at him. Lifting his head slightly to bear his fangs in a half-hearted display, the unfortunate leupak fell back into the dirt, quivering in pain as drops of water fell from the ceiling, and flowed underneath the segments of his skin.
Dimly, he could hear the Queen calling for her minions to bear him away, but Sha-Ulud's desire to follow her commands had been quelled. Now, he remained still, trying to minimize the water-pain that threatened to consume him, even as he was lifted by the vermiform bodies of those that were the distant kin of his other form. He hated being this helpless, this vulnerable, but he couldn't have pried himself up off of the water-soaked floor, let alone gotten himself into the drying sun. Submitting to the movement of the living palanquin, Sha-Ulud awaited the touch of the sun's heat, and dreamed himself back into the vast deserts of his home.
Deep below, Svenja awoke as the powerful, almost toxic, scent of cinnamon broke through the velvet barriers of unconsciousness. Opening her storm-grey eyes slowly, the semi-conscious were-bear wondered if she was still in the uncanny dreamworld, or if she was hallucinating the massive magenta worm that stared her in the face.
"I'm awake..." she muttered as it poked her with its head, rubbing her forehead with the back of her hand, then wincing. "Lambda?" Svenja asked, her voice still weak. "How long was I out?"

((*squeezes hard* Yaaay!
They told me they did, but I'm afraid they won't dissolve all the way, or dissolve fast enough. What if they turn into a pocket of goo?
*hugs* I didn't expect me to heal this fast either! Course, I thought they were gonna leave huge holes in my face, and they sutured them up and everything...They do it hardcore here! That guy didn't even kill any patients who had an unknown life-threatening allergy to anesthesia! XD))
((Wasn't it? The amphitheatre with the rainbow wings was cool! And yeah, sea flatworms are preeeety. They're like those fancy seahorses at the aquarium!))
It didn't take too long forthem to reach the surface. The worms continued for another twenty feet or so, to a nice clearing with lots of dried grass on the ground, and no moisture to speak of. Then small amounts of worms wiggled out from underneath him, slowly transferring bits of him onto the ground, until he was fully laid down in a nice comfortable position. Then they watched him, slowly, until their bodies began to shake. An odd bubble formed in their middle--where the digestive system began--then slowly shifted up their throats. Finally, they lunged towards him...and began to upchuck. A blue, transparent, goo came out, covering his wounds. It quickly began to spread, as many were using their other end to rub the goo around. A cooling sensation will fill Sha-Ulud, as the goo works as a painkiller, disinfectant, and bandage. Filled all of his wounds, then started to harden like a makeshift scab, or superglue. This was the secret to the worm queendoms power; this goo was used to put amputees back together. Lord knows they needed it, having no real armor or vertebrae.
Finally, the worms stopped and left in a short line. Only the wyrm stayed, watching Sha-Ulud curiously.
Back underground, Lambda was looking rather scared. After seeing all of this...He didn't know what to think anymore. What was wrong with this planet!?
He clicked his teeth together, the Vort's version of stammering, for nearly thirty seconds. Then he finally found the words to answer Svenja's question.
"Time? The Lambda does not know. No more than one planetary cycle. The Svenja missed much." He spoke, feeling as though he hadn't talked in years, "The Sha-Ulud and the Lambda found an indigenous species of...somethings, like that thing. Those things lead us down here, into a throne room for their leader...another thing, but different. That leader spoke. Then the Sha-Ulud panicked and transformed into...something. Another creature stopped the Sha-Ulud. The creatures took the Sha-Ulud to the surface. And now...we are here."
The magenta wormed seemed to listen to this speech. Then the exact second Lambda was done, it spewed the blue goo onto Svenja, and accidently onto Lambda. Lambda screamed...but stopped when he realized the goo felt great. It erased nearly all pain where it was. He let the worm continue its work, glad for Svenja to have some proper medical treatment.

((Sha-Ulud: *isn't bothered by the squeezing* *smiles*
They dissolve, but it takes a little bit. I had them in my leg, for internal stitches once.
It's really awesome! Listening to your experience makes me a lot less nervous for the time when I might have to get mine out. It's really great that you're doing so much better! Awesome. XD))
((It was! Oh, yeah it was! I remember getting the board game associated with those books, just so I could have the mini models of the dragons to play with. XD
They so are! That, and nudibranchs.))
Feeling the warm sun beating against his tan skin, Sha-Ulud began to slowly stir, trying to expose the most of his body to the sun's rays as he could, without crushing the worms around his body. Holding still as the worms transferred him to dry ground, the leupak couldn't resist digging into the abrasive material a little, smiling a weak smile of pleasure as the warmth of the dried grass and soil dried him out.
However, as something cooling and vaguely blue suddenly was sprayed over his body, Sha-Ulud's deep indigo eyes widened, first in fear-rage, then in awe, as the wounds from the wyrm's claws and the dissolved pieces of his skin were scabbed over by the mysterious substance. Lying still as the worms tended him, Sha-Ulud waited until they had gone, before carefully moving into a seated position, shifting the most damaged parts of his body so that they were against the almost-sand ground.
Seeing the wyrm watching him with curious eyes, the leupak blinked slowly at it, recognizing a fellow creature seemingly immune to the ravages of time. Bowing his head slightly in deference to the older creature, Sha-Ulud sighed, the scent of cinnamon drifting on the breeze.
"Planetary cycle...? Oh... A day. You mean a day..." Svenja muttered, speaking out loud, a habit she had for when she was tired, and in pain. "Sha-Ulud? That's the name of the creature we went back for? Is Sha-Ulud what left this orange goo, and the blue liquid, everywhere?" she asked after a moment, reaching awkwardly down, as if she wanted to take some of the venom splashes on the tip of her finger.
However, potential disaster was averted by the sudden spewing of the magenta worm, startling the were-bear. At first, Svenja stiffened, believing the blue goo to be a threat, but once she realized that the goo numbed the pain, and was beginning to seal the gaping wounds on her sides and belly, she calmed. Relaxing for a moment, she then returned to trying to reach for the globule of venom resting on the wall near Lambda.

((Me: Hey, how do you feel about interspecies dating? And no, not with me.
Yeah, it was a LOT more low key. In fact, this guy was taking wisdom teeth out all freaking day! Like, we came in there, and there was a dad waiting for his girl to finish with the surgery. When they say it's a minor thing, they really mean it. Though I'm glad he changed gloves before going to me, cause it'd be scary to see a guy with bloody gloves ready to take pieces of your head out.))
((LOL. I forced my parents to play with me all the time! XD And we had the wizard board game too, and I think I killed their characters or something. XD))
((And whaaaat? Cuttlefish?))
Sha-Ulud had bowed his head to the wyrm. At first it was confused, not understanding that gesture. Then it turned its lower neck to him, a gesture with the same meaning. It shuffled over and padded the ground with its claws and curled up in a coil next to Sha-Ulud. The wyrm let out an odd purr-growl noise, seemingly in content. It had not seen the light of day in many millenia. It smiled, watching as the sun set over the horizon.
"Yes..." Lambda answered both questions at once, "The Sha-Ulud spewed orange venom and bled blue blood. The Lambda suggests the Svenja do not touch any of those liquids. They may be hazardous to the Svenja's health." He said, awkwardly pushing her arm away from the goo with his third arm. His third arm was reserved for eating and romantic ceremonies. Using it on Svenja was...odd, to say the least.
"We should leave." He said, attempting to break his own internal awkwardness, "Can Svenja walk?"

((Sha-Ulud: Leupaks don't really date... We reproduce by injecting parasitic eggs into a humanoid host, then maybe caring enough for the host so that they survive to be a host a few times... I suppose we could feel love; the Queen of Leupaks does... He's got a boyfriend... But we don't mate.
That's really what you want, apparently! (Even minor surgery scares the daylights out of me; I have a deep-seated fear of surgery that requires anesthesia.) Yeah, that would freak me out, not to mention being a health hazard.))
((You too? XD They made a wizard game, too? Dang. I missed that one. XD))
((Nudibranchs! Sea slugs! They're so adorable! So are cuttlefish, actually... XD))
Lying down on the warm ground after a moment of sitting, Sha-Ulud stretched his bulk out along the ground, settling down into the pleasantly-scratchy dried grass. Eyes half-closed in relief that he hadn't drowned there, deep beneath the soil, the leupak didn't really notice the wyrm coiling itself next to him, until he felt its skin against his. Lifting his head to watch the sunset, Sha-Ulud longed for the vividness of the desert, for the feel of sand beneath his paws, and the dry air that preserved for centuries.
Recoiling visibly as Lambda told her what the mysterious liquids were, Svenja needed no other nudging to stay away from the orange and blue gels that had formed throughout the cavern. "I would guess them to be, if that's what they are," she said, seeming a little shaken. "I think I can. Only one way to find out!" she said with a smile, making a mental note to find some way to thank the Vortigaunt later.

((Me: Oh...Well that kinda ruins my plan...))
((You're afraid of anesthesia? Oh, well you could try nitrous and the localized anesthesia. No matter what, they always inject numbing stuff (not tingly numbing, but like I'm-trying-to-talk-but-my-bottom-lip-doesn't-work numbing.) into your gums. That's the lowest level of drugs they give. I got the medium level, a combination of that, nitrous, and twilight sleep stuff. The REALLY scared people, or people with allergies to the other stuff can get the anesthesia they use in hospitals, like when you're getting Open Heart Surgery an' shit.))
((Yeah. It was the different types of wizards in the world.))
((And violent! XD))
Lambda gave a weak smile. It didn't feel like a moment to smile, but he might as well anyway. He slowly lowered to the damp ground, carefully putting Svenja's feet there, and then shifting to where she was fully standing while he had arms under hers.
"Any pain?" He asked, checking the bigger wounds on her sides to make sure they weren't re-opening. So far they were good.

((Sha-Ulud: Sorry... We can feel some semblance of love, though...
Me: Do it anyway!))
((No, surgery that requires general anesthesia is what scares me. It's not a paralyzing fear, though, luckily; I can get through it, if I need to.))
((Awesome! How did I miss that...?)(Oh, but of course! XD))
Holding still as Lambda lowered her to the ground, Svenja gingerly put her feet down onto the soft ground. Testing her weight, she smiled in relief as she found herself without pain for the first time in what was probably weeks.
"No, surprisingly. Shall we go, and make sure Sha-Ulud isn't dead, or something?" she asked, her storm-grey eyes almost luminous in the dark.

((Aww...Okie!
Wyrm: *glomps Sha-Ulud*))
Lambda nodded. He didn't want to stay any longer than he had to. This place was disturbing. So, he slowly directed Svenja towards the tunnel that lead upwards, making sure she could walk properly and wouldn't collapse or anything. She had more color in her face than when she feel asleep, though, so she was recovering from the blood loss. That was a good sign.
